Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve

Experience the wildness of Africa by visiting Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve, the Southern Cape's biggest game reserve, just a few minutes drive outside Plettenberg Bay in the heart of the Garden Route.

View rhino, buffalo and lion (three of Africa’s big five), who roam the 2200 hectares of indigenous and malaria free bush together with over 35 species of other free roaming game. The reserve is also a fantastic birding spot with the local bird society having spotted over 101 different species.

Either relax and enjoy a 2 hour game drive in an open land rover, guided by knowledgeable and experienced game rangers, or experience the wild with a horseback safari.

Luxury accommodation is also available at the reserve’s Baroness Luxury Safari Lodge. Reminiscent of the romantic colonial era of an 'age gone by', the lodge was built in 1822 by the Baron von Pletten, an early South African pioneer and conservationist, who used the lodge as his base to explore the diversity and wildlife of the then, untamed, African landscapes.

Each of the spacious ten luxury double suites open out onto rolling lawns and have both indoor showers and lounging bathtubs, allowing guests to relax and unwind, enjoying true African hospitality.
Rates are inclusive of breakfast and dinner with either a 2 hour game drive or horse safari.
